Half Remembered Magick
The two things you should know are the character creation guidelines and my critical success house rule. First off, the house rule is that rolling a 01 is no longer a critical success, instead anytime you roll the exact same number as you skill level, you critical. So if you a 15% notice and you roll a 15, you just crit! Anyway, the Character creation guidelines:
Determine what sort of character you’d like to play. Think about something that makes them angry, and write it down. Then think about something that they are afraid of, and write that down. Next determine something that they would give up everything for, and write that down.
You have now determined your Rage Passion, Fear Passion, and Noble Passion. Name your character. Decide if they have an obsession that drives them. Once you’ve picked an obsession or chosen not to be driven determine your characters statistics.
- Street Level characters have 220 points to distribute among their four statistics (Body, Speed, Mind, and Soul). They get a number of skill points equal to the governing stat to purchase skills, plus another 20 bonus skill points. They can have any two non-combat hobby or reputation skills at 15% for free, subject to GM approval. These two skills should help flesh out the character. No skill can exceed 50% and they are all limited by their governing statistic.
- Global Level characters have 240 points to distribute among their four statistics (Body, Speed, Mind, and Soul). They get a number of skill points equal to the governing stat to purchase skills, plus another 75 bonus skill points. They can have any two non-combat skills at 15% for free, subject to GM approval. These two skills should help flesh out the character, they should be related to the character’s background. At GM discretion you may have an additional skill or two also at 15% as long as the skills are relatively minor and only further flesh out your character’s personality. No skill can exceed its governing statistic at this level. Nor should they exceed 75% without the permission of the GM and the rest of the group.
You gain a Struggle Skill under body at 15%, and General Athletics 15% also under body. You start with an Initiative skill equal to half your speed stat as well as 15% in dodge and drive, you also gain a Hide skill, a Knowledge skill, a Notice skill all at 15% under mind, and 15% Charm and Lie under your soul stat. Besides those free skills, you can have any skill you want to buy and a number of points equal to the governing stat in each category. Subject to a few limits and the GM approval. Feel free to name your skills whatever you like.
Characters are start the game with only the possessions that you can justify, please use common sense or ask for some help. Generally they can have a crappy vehicle, cheap phone, a weapon to go along with each of their weapon skills, and some personal effects.
